How To Achieve Top Ten Google Rankings For Your Small Business

The Village Hair project is very interesting because it shows how with some smart marketing, you can open up whole new revenue stream on the internet for your local (non internet) business.

The search engine traffic that it generates is targeted and motivated.

We focused our CT search engine marketing on the obvious keywords listed here: Hair Salon East Haven, Hair Cut East Haven, Best Hair Salon East Haven etc.

It must be said, that the website itself is very “thin” (Not much content) and therefore much more difficult to rank with. But, none the less, we managed to get right up there in the rankings.

In literally a couple of months, this one person beauty salon was getting over three hundred unique hits per month.

And that is not including the web 2.0 pages we set up. As a result, business increased.

The owner chose not to run any special promotions other than a simple 10% off coupon for first time clients which could be found on her home page.

Personally, I would be much more aggresive in my marketing to not only new, but existing clients as well. But we respected her decision and worked within the guidelines she laid down.

Our Approach

Because this was a test sceanario, we used a simplified version of our Meteoric Marketing Blast.

We created three Web 2.0 properties.

Basically, they are mini one page websites that are shown on other websites. They rank very well in the search engines, plus they create links to your main website.

We also implemented an aggressive social bookmarking campaign and we made some modifications to her website to improve rankings.

We created a Google Business Profile which quickly shot up to #1 in the local search results, but the owner later erased the account. See explanation below.

Here are the astonishing results:

Term: “Hair Salon East Haven”

This brand new site is now listed in three of the top ten positions. Essentially, controling the first page of Google for the term.

For the term “Hair Salons In East Haven”, We Own spots #3, 5, 8 and 10. Prove it for yourself by looking up “HAIR SALON IN EAST HAVEN”

It should also be noted that as mentioned above we had Village Hair in the #1 position on the local search results on Google for these terms. But the owner pulled her local search account off line (against our advice) after someone posted a single negative review of her business there.

We also have several top ten search engine rankings for many other terms that are directly related to hair cuts, hair salons, beauty salons etc.

Again, we control several of the top ten rankings for this term.

As you can see, the site is now getting a nice flow of traffic. All very focused traffic from people who are searching for a very specific service, A Haircut in East Haven.

As a result, Village Hair has seen a significant jump in new clients.
