For instance, if you are a mortgage broker and you are trying to have your website rank highly for the term “refinance”, it will probably be a cold day in hell before you get anywhere near the first page of Google for that.

But, If you target a phrase such as “mortgage loans in Phoenix” or “apply for mortgage in Sarasota, FL”, you will have a much easier time. The term is much more specific and there will be much less competition for it.

All in all, doing effective SEO is a full time  job in and of itself. Most business owners simply do not have the time to do the work themselves and have to hire professionals to do it for them.

This is okay, so long as the firm or the person they hire knows what they are doing and offers a good value to the business owner.
